Alchymista Cafe – Cukrarna in Letna

Alchymista cukrarna cafe LetnaALCHYMISTA is a coffee house, a tea house and a cake shop all in one. You would find it  in Letna between two lovely parks – Stromovka and Letna Park in Jana Zajice street. The best way to get there would be by tram – these days 26 and 12 – and to get off at Sparta tram stop. Then you would walk past the big football Sparta Stadium into Jana Zajice street and the cafe would be on your left.

It is truly a beautiful space done in a style of 1930’s with interior all in wood. When you enter don’t forget to have a look at the ceiling because it has been painted by a Czech painter Jan Kristofori. The beautiful painting on the ceiling is symbolizing an allegory of alchemy.  When you walk through to the back part of the cafe you will find a very nice cafe space with a French door and windows leading to an amazing romantic garden. The garden is connected to the neighboring Scarabeus Gallery and part of it offers outdoor seating for the cafe guests. If you have small kids you will be happy to learn that the cafe is children friendly and has a small play corner with boxes of toys and pencils for drawing. Dogs are also allowed but on the leash.

I would say it is a great place to go for coffee and to try one of their delicious cakes. After all you can always walk off the extra cake calories in the nearby Stromovka Park quite easily! 🙂
